The Clinical Skills Development Service (CSDS) is one of the largest education and training organizations in the world. Part of the Metro North Hospital and Health Service, Queensland Health, Australia, it supports simulation based education and training to over 127 sites across Queensland. The CSDS Acting Nursing Director, Luke Wainwright’s presentation will provide an overview of CSDS’s journey and how it maintains its distributed simulation delivery model. The key points will provide an understanding of starting with end-user design in mind, the operational models necessary to deliver effective simulation to healthcare professionals, the management and coordination of equipment management — and all under the specific focus of building the foundation for a highly scalable and sustainable platform.
Luke has 25 years of experience in critical care nursing with the last 10 years directly involved in simulation-based education. He was worked in numerous roles at CSDS including, the Learning and Development Manager, Simulation Manager, Operations Manager, Simulation Educator and Nurse Educator. He has a keen interest in disruptive technology and has been involved and led numerous projects for digital transformation, facility and workflow redesign, online and face to face simulation-based education programs. Luke is also a member of the Standards Australia IT-031/IT-031-01 Computer Modelling and Simulation Committee and was a longstanding member of the Australian Society for Simulation in Healthcare Executive Committee.
