Abstract:
While the research has not been conclusive on the superiority of debriefing with video, the presenter’s hospital-based simulation center has chosen to use this method after eliciting positive evaluations from participants and facilitators alike. Feedback has confirmed that the participants see their correct or incorrect actions in the medical simulation after watching the video recordings. Participants have even expressed surprise at how helpful it is to review the clinical simulation by video and gain an better perspective of their overall clinical performance. In this CE webinar, we will walk you through a part of one hospital-based simulation program’s current journey in establishing the use of video recording to improve clinical outcomes during the debriefing process. Presenter’s will then share “ups and downs” they have worked through in establishing a successful debriefing system through the use of video recorded healthcare simulation activities.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the implications of video recorded clinical simulations.
- Evaluate the use of healthcare simulation recordings, contrasting differences in hospital versus academic setting.
- Identify the essential components in the use of video recordings to improve clinical outcomes.
