Abstract:

The planning and execution of a Virtual Interprofessional Education Day (IPE Day) involves orchestrating a complex network spanning ten campuses, coordinating 30 concurrent ZOOM rooms, involving twenty distinct healthcare professions, engaging over 1,900 students, and mobilizing 120 volunteer facilitators. Attendees experienced a diverse array of activities, including simulated encounters and virtual escape rooms. This ambitious live, virtual event necessitated a concerted effort from numerous institutional departments. Navigating the intricacies of such a large-scale undertaking required adept relationship management, meticulous attention to the needs of event participants, and seamless coordination among key institutional stakeholders. These elements were pivotal in ensuring the success of this interprofessional endeavor.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the essential components involved in planning and executing a large-scale interprofessional healthcare educational event, including logistical considerations, and participant engagement strategies.
  2. Analyze the challenges inherent in orchestrating an interprofessional complex network spanning multiple campuses, coordinating numerous concurrent activities, and engaging a diverse range of healthcare professionals and participants.
  3. Evaluate the importance of effective relationship management, attentive consideration of participant needs, and seamless coordination among institutional departments and key stakeholders to ensure the success of large-scale interprofessional education with multiple healthcare simulation experiences.
