This CE presentation will focus on how to integrate an immersive virtual reality (VR) program into an undergraduate BSN curriculum. Utilizing Kotter’s change model, we will discuss how to prepare, implement, and evaluate an virtual reality nursing simulation program. Lessons learned and challenges of incorporating new simulation technology will be discussed and actions to meet these challenges will be presented. Tools that can be used to plan your IVR program implementation will be discussed. Study results will be shared related to learning and engagement.
Sue Schuelke is a passionate nurse educator and researcher with experience in developing education strategies to enhance learning. She has created and developed Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR) games for education and along with her colleagues implemented IVR into the CON curriculum. Sue will share her experiences, ideas and lessons learned on her implementation and will provide tools to encourage the learners to develop their own implementation plan. Sue has presented for NLN, INACSL and IMSH on her IVR experiences as well as published on the topic.
