Abstract:
This CE webinar will explore findings from recent Sentinel U Nursing Simulation Research Grant (SUNSRG) study findings on prioritization and delegation of newly graduated RN using virtual simulation. Data indicates a widening academic-practice gap. The purpose of this project was to determine if repeated participation in Sentinel U Patient Management and Delegation virtual simulations influenced new graduate nurses’ skills in prioritization and delegation. Utilizing a single group pre- and post-interventional design, we identified increased confidence in ability to complete patient care assignments on time and transferability of learning outcomes to practice. These results indicate there is value in receiving virtual simulation experiences within nurse residency programs to close the academic-practice gap.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe a virtual simulation pilot study that increased nurse residents’ prioritization and delegation.
- Highlight the value of partnerships between the virtual simulation industry and nurse residency programs to close the academic-practice gaps.
- Learners will understand how to use virtual Patient Management & Delegation tools for new graduate nurses.
