This presentation will describe the state of simulation in New Zealand with the new Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) nationwide organisation and NZASH, aka the New Zealand Association for Simulation in Healthcare, who are working together to promote healthcare simulation in the country and the region. The presenter will discuss our advocacy program on ministerial level and how the nonprofit organization plans to filter benefits down through their healthcare system. Benefits and successes of the NZASH organization will be discussed as well as the opportunity to participate in the upcoming 2024 conference November 13-15 in Christchurch.
After a chief resident year in 1999 at Beth Israel Medical Center, Dr. Brad Peckler became a core faculty member of the Cornell University EM Residency. In 2004 he became a core faculty member in the EM Residency at the University of South Florida where he was the director of simulation. Dr. Peckler has been working in New Zealand since 2009 at Wellington Hospital and is the medical lead for the simulation program. He is the current chair of the New Zealand association for Simulation in Healthcare. Simulation and the educational process has been his main focus of teaching and research (>60 publications) and has traveled the globe presenting and giving courses in trauma, medical simulation, and ultrasound.
