Abstract:
Join Emma Collins of Otago Polytechnic to reveal how leading learning institutions around the globe are leveraging mixed reality to ready students for clinical placements. In this webinar, healthcare educators will discover how 3D immersive technology enables students to engage better with course material, learn to manage the pressure of real-life patient care and how educators can seamlessly integrate holographic patients with existing curricula.
Learn how GIGXR’s HoloPatient app allows students to see disease progression for 16 pathologies, portrayed by ultra-realistic and diverse patients. Instructors can customize each pathology, including altering vital signs. Students can join in the lessons either on a Microsoft HoloLens 2 headset or via Android or iOS smartphone or tablet from anywhere in the world.
This interactive session will feature first-hand demonstrations to explore how this technology is helping students master clinical observation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and collaboration, based on Collins’ work with HoloPatient and her own students. Collins will be joined by Garry Putland, VP of Sales at GIGXR.
Additional Presenter: Garry Putland, VP of Global Sales at GIGXR
Learning Objectives:
- Demonstrate that the use of mixed reality in nursing education has a definable ROI in terms of student knowledge and engagement during the course.
- Understand how HoloPatient supports the clinical reasoning cycle and why that is key to training effective nurses.
- Understand how instructors can customize HoloPatient’s pathologies to their exact needs and save and share lessons.
