Abstract:
Immersive virtual reality (VR) simulation is becoming more prevalent in nursing education due to the increased demand for simulation and its ability to provide a realistic and interactive environment for meaningful learning. Implementing this modality of simulation can seem daunting for nurse educators who may be unfamiliar with facilitating immersive VR simulations. This presentation is intended for simulation educators of all levels who are exploring the idea of using immersive VR, or actively transitioning to the use of immersive VR, and want to ensure that learners have a seamless and robust simulated clinical experience. The presentation will guide educators in applying the INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSOBP) when facilitating a clinical day using immersive VR Simulation. Participants will analyze a sample immersive VR clinical day schedule and highlight how to apply the INACSL HSSOBP when prebriefing, facilitating, and debriefing a VR simulation-based experience.
