In this CE webinar will cover the theoretical concepts central to conducting interprofessional simulation training, including aspects related to scenario creation. Team training allows healthcare professionals who work together in the clinical to come together in a simulated environment to practice the technical and non-technical skills essential to providing high-quality, safe patient care. Examples and discussion of the practical aspects of implementing these principles will be discussed, with a focus on operating room team training for surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR nurses, and scrub technologists. Additionally, some practical tips and tricks for developing a team training program will be discussed.
Dr. Jamie M. Robertson is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and the Direction of Innovation in Surgical Innovation in the Department of Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She leads efforts within the surgery department to develop curricula and assessments to support medical students, residents, fellows and faculty. Her academic focus is on non-technical skills among teams. She co-leads the Brigham and Women’s Operating Room Training with Simulation program, which has trained more than 100 teams of surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses. Dr. Robertson completed her undergraduate education at Seattle University before earning her MPH in Behavioral and Community Health Sciences and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.
