Additionally, the presenter will explore different techniques for data capture, including automated software tools, observer reports, and direct feedback mechanisms, ensuring a comprehensive approach to data-driven improvements in healthcare simulation

Dayna Downing holds the position of Director of Program Operations at Immersive Design Systems (IDS), located within Boston Children’s Hospital. In her role, she is responsible for managing the daily operations of IDS and providing leadership for the Immersive Technologies Teams. Her teams are tasked with designing and implementing advanced immersive simulations and medical technologies. They utilize a blend of simulation techniques, organic modeling, applied engineering, and artistic approaches to develop tailored physical and virtual training tools. Downing’s contributions to the field extend beyond her IDS duties. She has played a significant role in shaping the ethical and educational frameworks within healthcare simulation. Notably, she was an associate editor for the Healthcare Simulation Dictionary, 2nd Edition, which standardizes terminology and promotes clear communication among professionals in the field. Additionally, she was part of the global working group that developed the Healthcare Simulationist Code of Ethics, underscoring her commitment to maintaining integrity and professionalism in healthcare simulation. For over a decade, she has been involved in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), where she has held numerous leadership positions. She has chaired Government Relations, External Strategic Relations, and in 2019 was elected to the Board of Directors. She is a member of various committees, workgroups, sections, and affinity groups. She is currently a member of the Development Committee. Dayna Downing’s work at Immersive Design Systems and her contributions to the broader healthcare simulation community highlight her dedication to advancing the field through innovative technologies, ethical practices, and collaborative efforts.
