Abstract:
Many simulation coordinators are unsettled when it comes to making equipment purchases. There’s a lot riding on these decisions. New equipment is costly in terms of finances and in the human resources needed to use the equipment. We can all think of at least one purchase that in hindsight might not have been the best fit for the situation. It is easy to lose your direction navigating the purchasing process. This webinar will take you through the Sim Equipment Algorithm (SEA), an easy three-step evaluation process that brings clarity and confidence to purchase decisions. You will have the opportunity to run through the SEA for a hypothetical sim program. Then apply the SEA to your next equipment purchase to make regret-free decisions. No longer stash unused equipment in the storeroom corner to collect dust because it wasn’t the right fit! Join Kateri Gabriele as she shares her expertise of nearly 15 years in the simulation world. As a simulation center operations manager in both academic and clinical practice settings she has been responsible for small and large equipment budgets with accumulated totals in the millions of dollars.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify challenges in the decision-making process when purchasing simulation products.
- Understand how the Sim Equipment Algorithm is used for a hypothetical sim program purchase.
- Create a prioritized equipment purchase list for your own program using the Sim Equipment Algorithm.
