Abstract:
Designing facilitator development activities can be challenging, whether overseeing the development of one person or many. This webinar will present two tools that were created to support the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of education and training activities for facilitators all along the novice to expert continuum.
The Simulation Educator Needs Assessment Tool (SENAT) was validated and assessed for reliability of data so that it can be used to evaluate the learning needs of simulation educators at any point in time, from novice hires to expert practitioners. The Facilitator Competency Rubric (FCR) underwent extensive reliability and validity work to establish it as a method to evaluate facilitators beyond debriefing skills.
Learn how the SENAT and FCR can be used as the foundation for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of facilitator development activities. Examples from over two years of program implementation will be shared.
Learning Objectives:
- Verbalize how to use a valid and reliable needs assessment to plan medical simulation facilitator development.
- Discuss the challenges and opportunities with using an observational rubric to assess clinical simulation facilitators.
- Use data to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate simulated healthcare facilitator development activities.
