Abstract:
Recent medical literature has identified female casualty care disparities as compared to male casualties in both the military and civilian settings. This webinar will review current literature related to the perceived disparity of care that women receive in the EMS point of injury setting. The seminar will consider clinical simulation methods and learning objectives that can be crafted into medical simulation to address these concerns. Finally, this webinar will review how the Tactical Medical Solutions next generation female high fidelity casualty simulator MATTi is designed to address these issues.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand how the current literature relates to the disparities in female casualty management in out of hospital care.
- Consider learning and healthcare simulation pedagogy to support learning objectives addressing these clinical disparities.
- Demonstrate options for addressing gender disparity issues on a high fidelity female casualty simulator.
