Abstract:
“How can virtual simulation be used to supplement or replace lost clinical hours?” This is a question on so many minds at the moment. While the research and data to fully support this answer is still coming, there are several existing resources and theories around simulation-based education that can be used to help answer it.
Join us as we walk you through the current evidence and present virtual simulation practice examples of Oxford Medical Simulation to help meet your learners’ needs. We’ll be drawing from documents such as the INACSL and SSH Joint Position Statement on Use of Virtual Simulation during the Pandemic, the INACSL Best Standards of Simulation, a variety of academic papers, and more.
Additional Presenter: Nathan Costiuc, NP
Learning Objectives:
- Review the current evidence and resources related to virtual clinical simulation.
- Discuss virtual simulation practice and implementation.
- Consider multiple pre-briefing, in-scenario, debriefing, and post-activity approaches to virtual simulation.
