Abstract:

This session provides an in-depth look at the creation of an integrated simulation center that aligns the efforts of healthcare simulation, gross anatomy, and clinical skills into a unified educational experience. Participants will explore the foundational steps in planning and design, including space allocation, technology selection, and stakeholder engagement. Emphasis will be placed on effective strategies for interdepartmental collaboration, supported by case studies to illustrate successful curriculum integration. Common challengesโ€”such as budgeting, faculty readiness, and technology maintenanceโ€”will be examined alongside practical solutions for overcoming them. By the end of the presentation, attendees will gain actionable insights into designing, implementing, and managing a high-quality, multidisciplinary simulation environment that fosters continuous innovation and improves learner outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Analyze at least three critical design considerations essential for planning and operating an integrated healthcare simulation center using real-world examples discussed during the presentation.
  2. Propose two innovative collaboration strategies for effectively bridging healthcare simulation, gross anatomy, and clinical skills departments, integrating insights from case studies.
  3. Evaluate three common challenges encountered in developing a multidisciplinary simulation facility and formulate corresponding solutions to address each issue.
