Abstract:
So how realistic should simulation-based training be? According to Alinier (2011), the aim of running simulation sessions is for participants to acquire experience in a safe environment. The scenarios and the elements around them need to be realistic to help participants “suspend disbelief” so that their cognitive, clinical, and non-technical skills can be observed in a safe and controlled environment. A certain level of realism is required so the participant(s) can consider the situation and patient as real and initiate treatment as they would in an actual clinical setting.
Now that you have all the simulation equipment and you want to create that realistic, high-fidelity scenario; in this webinar, we will demonstrate how to “put it all together” with the use of manikins, confederates, and an iSimulate with actual field clinicians, in an interactive, immersive environment. We will take you through the pre-brief, you will watch the scenario play out, and see the debrief all in one immersive space!
Learning Objectives:
- Identify challenges that make your current simulation space and/or scenarios as realistic as possible for learners.
- Understand how to best utilize your simulation equipment to bring all components of a simulation scenario together.
- Watch a high-fidelity simulation scenario play out in an immersive space and have Q&A time with leading experts in simulation training.
