Abstract:

Simulation-based education is grounded in experiential learning theory, primarily aiming to involve learners actively in the educational process. By engaging cognitive and emotional domains, this interactive environment can sometimes compromise psychological safety that influences learning outcomes. Educators who develop simulation experiences must ensure a safe environment to optimize learning. The Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSOBP), developed by the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), provides guidelines to enhance simulation-based education, promote evidence-based practices, and advance healthcare education. However, achieving consistency in the application of these standards can be a challenge. This CE webinar aims to deepen participants’ understanding of the HSSOBP to help them identify gaps in their practice and implement the standards effectively. Through peer mentorship, participants will explore strategies to apply best practices in areas such as Simulation Design, Prebriefing, Operations, Simulation-Enhanced IPE, and Evaluation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss the criteria HSSOBP Simulation Design, Prebriefing, Operations, Simulation-Enhanced IPE, and Evaluation.
  2. Analyze how the HSSOBP Simulation Design, Prebriefing, Operations, Simulation-Enhanced IPE, and Evaluation influences simulation-based education.
  3. Apply the HSSOBP Simulation Design, Prebriefing, Operations, Simulation-Enhanced IPE, and Evaluation in program design.

Meet the Presenter(s):
