This one-hour CE webinar is designed for current or aspiring medical simulation educators interested in learning about commonly overlooked or undervalued aspects of developing, improving, or advancing clinical simulation programs. During our time together, we will explore topics intended to expand thoughts, guide decisions, explore common equipment use/misuse/underuse cases, explore the importance of realism and immersion, provide some examples to support enhancing realism and knowledge transition to practice. The presenter will leave participants with a collaborative challenge which can change the way we train clinically, while significantly reducing the knowledge to practice gap.
Jennifer Furry, MSN, RN, CCRN-K, PCCN-K, PMP, CNML, is a thought leader in healthcare and simulation who has been blessed with opportunities to develop and advance simulation based learning within various organizations throughout her career. Prior to her professional nursing career (more than 24 years ago), Jen taught swim lessons and coached a swim team in Nebraska which started her education journey. Jen then earned an EMT-A License, worked as an Immunohematology Technologist, and finally became a Registered Nurse. As a bedside RN and clinical leader, Jen has served in Progressive Care, Surgical/Trauma/Transplant ICU, Medical ICU, Burn ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, and Emergency Services. Beyond her bedside nursing experience, Jen has supported the profession as a Clinical Educator, Academic Educator, as a Small Business Owner of a Legal Nurse Consulting Company, as well as Various Leadership Roles within non-profit, for profit, CommunityHospitals, Academic Acute Care Organizations, Healthcare Markets and Corporate Teams. Helping others learn and grow within healthcare provides inspiration, fun, and a creative outlet which continually restores her passion for supporting her colleagues and community.
