In this position you will:

  • Serve as a consultant and facilitator in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of educational activities within Perinatal Simulation Program to support the Mission Statement and Core Values of Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.
  • Plans and implements educational activities to enhance clinical development and proficiency of clinical staff
  • Encourages multidisciplinary participation of in-situ simulation.
  • In collaboration with clinical nurse specialists, nursing staff, department management and physicians develops and/or modifies simulation clinical case scenarios.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree currently in progress
  • Minimum of 2 years acute hospital experience in clinical specialty area..
  • Current California Licensed Registered Nurse
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS
  • Current NRP

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Position Description:

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Simulations Specialist to join our team of professionals. Duties Include:

  • Oversees the day to day operation in the simulation center.
  • Sets up the simulation room or simulation center in preparation for simulation scenarios; including equipment, simulators, IT and video/audio; Performs all necessary tests to verify system is working appropriately.
  • Assists with the operations of the simulators during training sessions.
  • Demonstrates and teaches technical aspects of operating simulators to faculty members and supporting staff.
  • Provides orientation of faculty, medical students and residents to principles of simulation training and debriefing techniques.
  • Supports the development of simulation curriculum with technical knowledge of the simulation center capabilities and procedures to ensure that curriculums are accurate and appropriate.
  • Supports the development of instructor training methods.
  • Assists in the development of course curriculum and assessment tools with appropriate faculty and staff.
  • Maintains all simulation equipment inventory.
  • Develops inventory control procedures to monitor supply levels, allocate costs accurately and ensure supplies are on hand when needed.
  • Coordinates facility improvement and new equipment deployment.
  • Monitors equipment safety and performance testing.
  • Develops relationships with medical equipment vendors to gain their support to supply goods and services in support of medical training.
  • Develops technical proficiency with all aspects of operation, maintenance, support and trouble shooting.
  • Works with manufacturers or vendors to correct equipment deficiencies in order to minimize down time.
  • Works with COM IT on escalated technical problems.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of simulation training programs among users by working with course directors and coordinators to establish priorities and maximize operational time.
  • Learn and master the simulation software (EMS – Educational Management Solutions) that centralizes simulation center scheduling, inventory, assessment tools and collection of assessment data.
  • Assists with data entry involving the conversion of current assessment tools into the EMS system to develop a paperless assessment system.
  • Works with the director of simulation and director of educational assessment to report OSCE data collected within the EMS system.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and six (6) years of appropriate experience, or Master’s degree and four (4) years of experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous Healthcare, Professional Nurse, Paramedic, Physician Assistant experience is preferred.
  • Experience with A/V and multimedia equipment.
  • Experience with the use of Simulators in medical education.
  • Ability to learn and master EMS software.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Simulation Operations and Research Manager to join our team of professionals.

Duties Include:

  • Develop inventory policies to ensure that levels are maintained in a cost effective way.
  • Develop relationships with medical equipment and simulation technology vendors to gain their support to supply goods and services in support of medical training
  • Review annual expenses and manage budget within delegated authority.
  • Perform market research to understand current practices in medical simulation training.
  • Develop, update and implement marketing plans.
  • Plan and implement special projects
  • Support the development and writing of IRB and generated grants
  • Identify and pursue grants/partnership funding opportunities for institutional collaboration and research applications in simulation-based learning and evaluation and institutional patient safety
  • Conduct tours of the facility
  • Promote training services to external healthcare and emergency response organizations
  • Develops budget and reviews expenditure on a monthly basis for communication with Internal College of Medicine Finance.
  • Provide summaries of operational expenses, class attendance, equipment usage and equipment repair as input to monthly, quarterly and or annual plan development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Duties & Responsibilities:  Under the general joint supervision of the Dean of School of Health, Wellness, and Public Safety (HWPS) and the Chief Community Engagement Officer, oversees Central New Mexico Community College’s (CNM) health care programs located at CNM STEMulus and HWPS, including but not limited to simulation training, continuing education units (CEU), American Heart Association training center programs and other training / conferences / workshops.  The Director is responsible for administrative functions for the program.  These duties may include, but are not limited to, serving as a liaison among the students of the program, the faculty, and the College administration, as well as direct involvement in the development of employability of CNM’s students within the community. This position will be responsible for the development of new and additional programs and community growth. Additionally, this position will be involved in College initiatives designed at strategic goal development for within HWPS, CNM STEMulus, and the community.

Responsible for the ongoing/yearly organization, administration, coordination, and evaluation of all aspects of the program. Responsible for outcomes assessment, accreditation, and program development. Establishes / develops and maintains effective community partnerships in support of CNM STEMulus programs and the health care simulations for students. Responsible for publicity, fundraising and high level tours for simulation and other programs intended for external users. Partner with HWPS and CNM STEMulus faculty and staff in the development of laboratory / simulation, CEU and various training learning experiences / opportunities and curriculum.

Responsible for the management of CNM STEMulus instructors and all HWPS simulation lab staff and work-studies. Provides leadership, direction, and support to assigned staff. Responsible for the management of the simulation lab operations, including but not limited to, development, maintenance, and enforcement of policies and procedures for all simulation programs that will affect staff, faculty, students and external customers. Responsible for maintenance and effective operation  of the simulation lab equipment including, but not limited to, LearningSpace, Pyxis medication system, and Gaumard / Laerdal / CAE high fidelity mannequins.

Develops the budget for the CNM STEMulus programs and HWPS simulation labs and community programs.  Oversees department budget, and monitors expenditures to ensure adherence to College policies.  Forecasts and controls expenditures for the department by projecting department needs, justifying requests, allocating funds, revising priorities, and monitoring expenditures. This includes equipment purchases and repairs/maintenance.

Actively prospects and leverages potential new business opportunities within the healthcare arena.  Cultivates strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers within the health care industry and develops deep knowledge of potential client organizations.  Analyzes potential opportunities and develops marketing strategies to promote CNM STEMulus health care programs. These duties can include, but are not limited to, oversight of simulation projects with community partners, and developing goals for programs intended for external users.

Minimum Requirements:  – A Master’s degree in simulation technology, health care profession, or a related field

  • At least three (3) years’ experience in simulation-based education and training, evaluation of outcomes, patient safety, and implementation of innovative simulation-based education and training programs necessary
  • This position requires a background check.
