The University of California, Irvine, Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking applicants for a Simulation Fellowship with an application period of July 1st, 2016 through June 30th, 2017

University of California, Irvine, Department of Emergency Medicine (EM) is seeking a HS Clinical Instructor- Medical Simulation Fellow for July, 2017. University of California, Irvine Medical Center is a Level I Trauma center with 5,000 runs/year, 50,000 ED census, with a nationally recognized three-year residency program since 1989. The UC Irvine Medical Education Simulation Center is a new $40 million, 65,000-square-foot facility that provides telemedicine and simulation-based educational programs and CME courses for thousands of healthcare providers each year. The four-story medical education center includes a full-scale operating room, emergency room, trauma bay, obstetrics suite and critical care unit. The simulation fellow will have the opportunity to educate/train and form cooperative collaborative relationships with medical students, residents, nurses, allied health professionals, EMTs, paramedics, and physicians while developing and delivering innovative simulation curriculum. Our simulation-based content has been implemented in educational courses at the local, regional, national and international level. The simulation fellow will have the opportunity to present at local, regional, national, and international conferences.

SAIL is seeking Simulation Fellows!

Applications are invited for appointment to a Simulation/Medical Education Fellow placement. This unique post offers an exciting opportunity for Specialty Registrars to develop their experience and skills as medical educators. The Fellowship provides an out of programme experience for a period of 12 months attached to the Simulation and Interactive Learning (SaIL) Centre within Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

St Thomas’ has a central London location with stunning views across the Thames to the Houses of Parliament, is next to the London Eye and the arts complex of the South Bank. There is easy access to major transport links.

The post-holder will have an educational supervisor, funding towards a relevant course, an expectation of participation in project work and encouragement and practical help to produce a poster presentation or publication. Support and training will also be given to help the post-holder develop key management skills which are important for a future Consultant role.

The Trust has a number of centrally located subsidised accommodation options. The post-holder may participate in a senior trainee rota dependent on their specialty. Applicants must hold full registration with the GMCClosing date: 23/01/2017, by midnight.

Recently saw this posting from NYSim Center, a partnership between The City University of New York and NYU Langone Medical Center, who are offering a Simulation and Education fellowship that is a 1-year paid program.

Fellowship Objectives

  • Design and implement simulation curricula utilizing a variety of tools and techniques including Immersive Simulation and Debriefing, Standardized Patients, Partial Task Trainers
  • Design and implement faculty development programs including simulation instructor courses, faculty observation and feedback, curriculum integration consulting
  • Operate simulators and related audiovisual equipment independently
  • Understand and apply relevant Education theories to all aspects of work in Simulation
